Fun (his name when I bought him...nothing else is fitting!) is a great all around horse. His last owner did competive endurance for 8 years, before that he did dressage and english pleasure. I've been riding english and western. He takes to the trails like a pro, and can go all day.
He trailer loads into slants, ramped, and step-ups, no questions asked. He cross ties for hours, with minimal stamping. Great stall manners, and is great with other horses and dogs, and goats.
He has a sweet disposition and is willing to please, as long as you know your way around horses. If he knows he can get away with things, he'll do it. Not a biter or kicker.
With a disiplined rider, he can be in a dressage ring in a matter of months, weeks for beginner levals. His muscle tone is great, his only problem is controlling his energy and keeping his head tucked. I've been using a running martingale and it's helped a lot.
He could be for a beginner with his disposition, but my concern is his speed and energy. to go from a walk to slow trot, just one click. If you use your knee or heel, you're into an extended trot that requires a good seat and great balance to stick to. I"ve been working with him to get a good lope, but so far he only does it on the lunge. Under saddle it's still really fast.
I've tried him over jumps, he'll go up to 2 1/2 ft, higher needs some more work. I think it's my jumping seat and lack of jumping confidence holding him back. I've seen him clear some high stuff out on pasture.
He is in perfect health, sound hooves, great flexibility, neg. coggins, all shots and wormings current.
He has no preference to either a man or woman rider, will allow children to ride safely if walked on rope.
