| Notes : |
Ziggy is a very pretty english type (very stocky and strong -- looks like a little draft horse) 9year old unregistered shetland gelding. He is currently ridden by a 38yr old adult (me- our daughter lost interest). He is freindly, easy to catch, current on worming & shots, trailers great, leads great, ties and stands, easy to saddle and bridle, you can touch this pony all over -- not shy about ears or feet. You can slide off his back-end without it botering him, he's fine around traffic, dogs, bicycles, even firecrackers, stands well for the farrier, his previous owner said they drove him but we have not and we have not seen him in harness, he direct reins and takes a standard type snaffle only (not shanked or "cowboy" snaffles), english or western saddle, he has good confirmation and is sound.
We would be willing to consider a free lease to an approved home. Ziggy's welfare is very important to us. Here is the catch. Ziggy has one bad habit. He will test all new riders. He will stop dead in his tracks and refuse to go forward. If you make less than firm attempts to get him moving he will stomp his little feet and paw the ground but still refuse to budge. His rider must be a good enough rider to firmly but kindly get him moving again. Once he finally gets the idea that he isn't going to get his way he's fine -- but it can be very irritateting so we want any perspective new owners or leasers to know. This is his only bad point. He loves people and is always the first of our horses to trot up to greet you and ask for a pat.
