The power of Classified ads is undeniable, and if you want to get more customers for your business or service, you absolutely have to capitalize on their power. But while posting a classified ad might not be at all hard to do, there is definitely a right way and a wrong way to do it. Do it poorly and you’ll be left frustrated by the results, as your ads might not get enough views or clicks to make a difference. Do it the right way and watch how your ads bring in countless more customers to your business in no time.

So with that in mind, let’s take a look at 3 tips for getting the most out of your classified ads.

  1. Research & Writing

Most people write an ad and then they publish it on all the popular classifieds websites expecting to make a killing, only to notice little or no traffic coming from their efforts. Don’t let this be you! The proper way to do it is to start with a little research. Look at how other related businesses are writing their ads and make notes of the ads you like. Make a list with the ones that have received the most views. Take a look at their title, their description, what picture(s) they used as nothing is left to chance. There’s a reason why some ads get much more views than others.

Once you have a good understanding of which types of ads work best, make 10 different similar ads for your business. Yes, you actually need 10 because some will work better than others, and this is the only way to properly filter them and find the ads that work best for you.

  1. Testing & Tracking

Once you have your 10 ads, you can send a different ad for each classifieds website you find, and then start tracking the results. Make notes on what ads get more traffic, and which don’t. Also make sure you have Google Analytics installed on your website to easily track which ads get you the most traffic. You can take it one step further and set up conversion tracking as well. This way you’ll be able to see exactly which ads make you the most money. The ads that are underperforming can be eliminated next time you submit, and either submit your best ones, or replace the underperforming ones with an equal number of new ads to test them as well. Never settle for “good enough”, you may be leaving money on the table, so always test new ads as well.

  1. Promote The Best Performing Ads

Free ads are great, because they allow us to get customers without spending money. However, when we’ve started earning some revenues from the ads we’ve published so far, the next logical step is to promote the best performing ones to get even more traffic and sales. Once you figure out how much money per visitor you earn for each ad in particular, you can then spend some of that money to get even more exposure to a proven advert that you know generates clicks and sales.

Classified ads might seem a simple way of advertising, and they can work like a charm, but as with everything, hard work is definitely involved if we want to maximize our results. Write better ads, test them, track them and then promote your best performing ones. It’s a proven method for success!
